Dr. Dirk Markus

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Dirk Markus born in Regensburg, Germany, studied business administration in St. Gallen, Switzerland, and Copenhagen, Denmark, and was awarded a PhD by St. Gallen. During his PhD studies, he spent a term as Visiting Research Fellow at Harvard University, Boston, United States.

He has been involved with the further development of companies for more than 15 years, starting as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he worked as a project manager and focused in particular on restructuring topics and on the setup and development of e-commerce businesses. He subsequently founded the internet platform Mercateo AG and was responsible for financing and corporate development as executive board member of the company. After the company was successfully sold to EON group, Dr. Markus co-founded an exchange-listed industrial holding company.

To date, he has been responsible for more than 80 corporate acquisitions.

After studying physics in Leipzig and Lausanne/Switzerland, Gert Purkert worked for McKinsey & Company, where he gathered experience in process improvements, cost reduction programs and strategic restructuring programs.

After that, he co-founded equinet AG in Frankfurt, an investment bank advising mainly small to medium-sized enterprises. As a member of the Executive Board of the Group’s portfolio company, he was responsible for conducting numerous M&A transactions and managing the portfolio companies.

Donatus Albrecht is Chief Investment Officer at AURELIUS. Since joining the company in 2006 Donatus is responsible for all M&A Activities of AURELIUS. He has overseen a total of more than 70 acquisitions, sales and IPOs. After studying economics at Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Mr. Albrecht worked in the Corporate Development Department of Deutsche Bahn AG, where he gathered experience in process improvements and strategic restructuring programs.

After that, he moved to Pricap Venture Partners AG (Thomas Matzen Group), a venture capital and private equity firm. He worked there for six years as an investment manager vested with power of commercial representation under German law (Prokura); during this time, Mr. Albrecht managed more than 20 transactions, from the initial investment to the IPO stage.

After studying Business Administration at Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Steffen Schiefer worked for DAX-listed Metallgesellschaft AG in Frankfurt am Main. In 1996, he joined ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG as part of the IPO team. As Vice President Group Accounting, he was responsible for setting up the group accounting. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of wetter.com AG, a subsidiary of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group.

In mid-2008, Steffen Schiefer joined AURELIUS as Director Finance and has been CFO of AURELIUS since 2012. He is responsible for internal and external accounting as well as valuation, taxes, treasury and internal auditing.

Fritz Seemann

Fritz Seemann studied mechanical engineering at Berlin Technical University. Since 1999 he has worked on the realignment and operative improvement of companies, first as Senior Principal at Droege & Comp. and then as consultant and Interim Manager. Seemann has been with AURELIUS since 2009. Among other things, he was responsible for the very successful realignment of compressor manufacturer Secop, which AURELIUS sold in the summer of 2017 in the second largest exit in its history.

As of December 1, 2017, Fritz Seemann will reinforce the executive management in the area of operations. In this capacity, together with CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board Dr. Dirk Markus and Board Member Gert Purkert he will be responsible for the portfolio of subsidiaries.
