Blaupunkt introduces its new Telematics division

  • Full steam ahead to a leading position in the telematics market thanks to the strength of innovation and company-wide synergies

Hildesheim, 27 January 2011 – The Blaupunkt Group is now advancing into a new business field under the “Blaupunkt Telematics” product and company label. Following a successful restructuring process carried out by its shareholder, the AURELIUS Group, Munich, Blaupunkt is now back on a course headed for growth. The Blaupunkt Global Brand Community was the cornerstone laid to tap into new markets and to expand the existing product portfolio. In January 2011, this strategy gave birth to a new company division: “Blaupunkt Telematics”. This division will address a new, dynamically growing market segment and offer professional telematics solutions.

The managing director of this new division is Norbert Schwaiger, who, together with his team, looks back on many years of experience in the telematics segment. “Thanks to the many opportunities to cooperate within the Blaupunkt Global Brand Community and the first-class image of the Blaupunkt brand, we will be able to move into an excellent position on the market,” commented Schwaiger. “Blaupunkt stands for the highest in ‘Made in Germany’ engineering skills and based on this firm foundation, we are able to meet the widest range of different demands made on reliability, quality and innovation in German production.”

“The transmission of telematic data inside and outside of the vehicle is an excellent match to the Blaupunkt brand product range to date and constitutes an important enhancement of our competence,” said Raimund Zündorf, CEO of the Blaupunkt-Group. “Telematics is a future technology; we foresee great opportunities for Blaupunkt in this market.”

Blaupunkt was originally formed as a company called “Ideal” in Berlin in 1923 and became famous by the mark of quality used internally for its headphones – the blue dot. This symbol of quality became the trademark and then the company name in 1938. Blaupunkt is a leading brand for car radios in many parts of the world and in Europe in particular. Blaupunkt stands for quality and innovation. The company also focuses increasingly on components for consumer electronics and currently employs close to 450 people worldwide.
